Though the Egyptian Government has not admitted to arresting Wael Ghonim, Google's Head of Marketing for Middle East and North Africa, his disappearance last Friday has many concerned for his safety, fearing torture by the Hosni Mubarak regime.

Wael Ghonim (Arabic: وائل غنيم‎, IPA: [ˈwæːʔel ɣoˈneːm]) (born December 23, 1980 in Cairo, Egypt) is an Egyptian blogger, computer engineer and the Head of Marketing of Google Middle East and North Africa since January 2010.[1] He has been missing since January 27, 2011 during the 2011 Egyptian protests.

Wael Ghonim was born to a middle-class family on December 23, 1980 in Cairo, Egypt and grew up in the United Arab Emirates.He earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Cairo University in 2004 and an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from the American University in Cairo in 2007.
