The author of the blog A Gay Girl in Damascus was taken by Syrian police a couple of days ago, and her whereabouts and condition remain unknown. You can click through to Amina Arraf's blog to see posts from her cousin updating the situation.

A dual citizen of Syria and the U.S., Amina Arraf is still missing, having been last seen Monday evening, being bundled into a car by three armed men in central Damascus.

Amina Arraf is an eloquent, perceptive mind that champions the cause of the Palestinians, and also of the average Syrian, who thirsts for freedom and human dignity just like the next guy. Today's phone call to the Libyan State TV network was a cry for help from a cornered man. Like Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Gaddafi represents a revolutionary who once had the love and respect of his people, only to be corrupted by the overwhelming cult of personality associated with communist and fascist leaders. Bring on democracy, Libya, and welcome to the world!

It's probably past time for a no-fly zone however people in Tripoli are calling for it so we have to pay attention to what the Libyan people are saying. The mercenaries must be turned back.
