Late Friday here but early Saturday in Egypt, Day 12 of the Uprising, I just heard on the BBC International News that Omar Suleiman is planning to meet with the leaders of the opposition in Egypt.
ElBaradei has suggested a that a council of three lead Egypt for one year, to give time to plan fully free and fair elections. Here is one suggestion for three leaders that could form this crucial trio.
Possible Egyptian leadership Triumvirate
President - Sami Anan
Vice-President - Mohamed ElBaradei
People's Representative - Wael Ghonim
If ElBaradei has presidential aspirations, he should resign six months before the election. Anan, as Military Chief of Staff, shall not be allowed to run in the 2012 as he will be disqualified as part of the conditions of accepting the transitional presidency. Ghonim is more likely a candidate for Minister of Communication and as long as he does not want to run for president, then he could stay in the transitional leadership, but if he did have those aspirations, he should also relinquish power well ahead of the election date, six months in advance, halfway.
I urge Egyptians to plead with Canadians for help in planning and executing fully open, free and fair elections, for just pleas are answered. We are nice people, with expertise in these areas.
