Mona El Shazly Dream TV interview with Wael Ghonim, English translation
Just before heading off to bed last night I thought I heard that Wael Ghonim had been interviewed on Piers Morgan Tonight, and I woke up this morning to find the good news is true: Wael Ghonim is FREE!!!
The Arab internet pioneer, human rights activist and Google Head of Marketing for North Africa and the Middle East, was held incommunicado for 12 days by Egyptian authorities.
Here is an interview with Wael Ghonim regarding his imprisonment and the situation in Egypt, with English translation appearing as subtitles across the bottom.

Wael Ghonim confirms he is Elshaheed, Facebook activist
In an interview later with Mike Giglio of The daily Beast, Ghonim confirmed he was Elshaheed, the person behind the Facebook page We Are All Khaled Said.
“Actually, I did the easiest thing, which was writing,” said Ghonim, a 30-year-old father of two, the day he was released from Egyptian detention. “At the end of the day, it was about the power of the people.”
Named in honor of a blogger beaten to death by police last summer, the Facebook page “We Are All Khaled Said” became a rallying point for last week’s demonstrations. It was run anonymously by Ghonim, who referred to himself simply as “ElShaheeed,” which in Arabic means “the martyr.” Ghonim also created the Web page for Mohamed ElBaradei, the Nobel Prize winner who has returned to Egypt to become one of the main leaders of the opposition.
